Inspired by the Alizé bottle, we unpack gentrification—what the real issue is and how transplants and natives can help.
Brittany Antoinette, host of the Not So CEO Talkshow and Brooklyn native, takes us back in time and shares what old Brooklyn was like pre-9/11, before masses began moving to Brooklyn after not feeling safe in Manhattan.
She grew up in “The Flossy” a tight-knit community and compares it to now, where outsiders seemingly exclude natives based on status and aesthetic.
Although gentrification seems bigger than us and a fault of the government and high rent costs pushing natives out, we chat through what can realistically be done to connect everyone.
Towards the end, we talk about the "internet personalities" creating red tape around certain events; these individuals have been negatively impacted by internet culture & are pressed to be known and liked, losing themselves in the process.
We also question if they ever really knew themselves.
