On February 6, 2023, two powerful earthquakes and over 100 aftershocks devastated southern Turkey and northwest Syria, killing more than 58,000 people. Over half a million buildings were significantly damaged, forcing some 3 million people to relocate. With memories of misery on an incalculable scale still fresh in mind, John Patrick, author and Middle-East refugee relief coordinator, recounts his survival in the midst of this catastrophe and the chaotic aftermath resulting in tragedies upon tragedy, disasters within the disaster. Although a seasoned aid worker, John questioned, "Where is God in this destruction, lives crushed under pancaked buildings, death of children, loss of limbs and loved ones?" Discover and marvel at the path trod by those who cherish their duty, even in the midst of utter devastation, to be God's angels and benevolent beacons of hope!
