Today, we’re sitting down with a fantastic human I’ve had the pleasure of knowing about a decade now, Josh Dahlquist. I got to meet Josh through my musical meanderings once upon a time, meeting him through his stage persona: Beige as the lead vocalist of the group Triceracorn. Now, he’s doing fantastic stick-n-poke tattoos out of his private studio in Seattle, but still finds time to make music, clothing, and enjoy the beauty of everyday.

In this episode, Beige came down to Portland and stopped by the Pit to talk about the differences of stick-n-poke vs machine tattoos, roller derby, and calling hecklers onstage. We also chat about making art intentionally, eating strange foods, and the concept of consumption vs. creation.

If you wanna book a tattoo with Beige or learn more about his art, you can find him on instagram @nowyoureshattered. And make sure you stay tuned til the end of the episode, where we play a choice cut of the album Porcelain by Triceracorn entitled “Black Water.” Links will be in the description.

At this time, we want to thank our sponsors StrangeLoop Animation. A brand new visual arts company specializing in 2D traditional animation, the founders of Strangeloop have been supporters of the show since day one. As they are now supporters of our show, we are now supporters of their art, so make sure to go check them out on instagram @strangeloopanimation (all one word).
