Carmel, IN – Jun 3, 2024 - This week, The Omnibus Show welcomes Dubbie Buckler. Buckler is a consultant in organizational effectiveness. Previously, she's been the National American Legion Executive Director, as well as being the first woman elected to Indianapolis & Marion County Treasurer. She’s been with many organizations and companies, and has served on almost 50 boards. Many of the organizations include: the US Department of Veterans Affairs, Breast Cancer and Elder Abuse in Care.
Tune in to this episode to hear Buckler’s reflections on servant leadership, the necessary ingredients in a successful corporation, steps get a successful business going, as well as personal reflections on her own path and the importance of military recognition in our country.
Buckler describes her roles over the years and offers some advice for those looking to go into public service or run for public office. “In public service you learn a lot because you’re there to serve the public. It’s immersive learning. Learning by living.”
She began her public service career early, working during her college years with Dick Lugar when he was Mayor of Indianapolis, and then with Steve Goldsmith when he was prosecutor.
Many of the organizations she has been involved in have been personally relevant to Buckler, including her time with an Indiana breast cancer organization. And, having been in Girl’s State in high school, she spent eleven years with the American Legion, the group that sponsors the Boy’s and Girl’s State program.
We are honored to be sponsored by Hotel Carmichael.
