LAST NIGHT WE WENT OUT FOR A DINNER.
THE CHEF SHOWED ME WITH PRIDE TWO KEYCHAINS: ONE FOR UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN AND ONE FOR YALE.
HIS DAUGHTER GOES TO MICHIGAN, HIS SON GOES TO YALE .
I asked what do they go for, he only knew about one of them and it was “Chemical engineering”
Immediately after that I asked him - was that their passion? He responded no with a hopeless face. He said, I work 3 jobs to support them and we took $170K student loans between both.
They all think ……this is the key….the degree. If you have a degree…then you qualify……
This is what leads to the 80% TRANSACTIONAL professionals and the lack of care, empathy, sympathy, and only chasing dollar signs and social status. It’s dangerous out there.
If these kids become chemical engineers, it will be only so they can fund their hobbies (their true passion), so they could feel alive once a month or over the weekend or 1 hour per week.
