Ever find yourself in the middle of a toxic place? I would love to share an episode from the first season of Together We Rise an offering of Women’s Speakers Collective. Yes, I have a second podcast. My co-host Cheryl Nembhard and I focus on amplifying women’s voices and we have almost wrapped with Season 1. You will find us learning from leaders, speakers, and teachers on the front lines, as well as those who are just starting out. We engage with guests from various fields and perspectives, who will share their experiences on finding rest, dealing with imposter syndrome, maintaining integrity, pursuing justice, and so much more.

Today you will hear from best-selling author of The Thing Beneath The Thing and host of the Craft and Character podcast Steve Carter. He is a personal coach to communicators who are discovering their unique voice and desiring to take their skills to the next level. He currently serves as a teaching pastor at Forest City Church and teaches regularly at churches, conferences, and various businesses worldwide. Steve lives outside Chicago, Illinois, with his wife and two kids.

Reflection Questions

  1. What is one way you can amplify other women’s voices in your life by bringing them to the table, asking them their thoughts, and including them in your church leadership?
  2. Is there a certain culture where it has become too toxic to stay? Work, church, maybe it is the books you read, what you scroll or watch day to day? Is it time to leave?
