Walk and Talk: Giving Up My Day Job In another walk and talk, I go into the reasons I’m in no rush to give up my day job, even when entrepreneurialism and business is my driver. My real driver is financial independence, and to get that I must first pay off my £24,000 of debts, and build an emergency fund. Keeping my 9-5 gives me the security I need right now, and as I’m commission targeted too, allows me to get out what I put in and make extra income based on my performance. Almost another type of income source. I have side hustles I’m working on that may eventually take over as maim businesses but for now having the freedom to explore these and learn without the pressure of having to cover my outgoings is a real advantage to my plan.
