On today’s episode I welcome on photographer and writer Gioncarlo Valentine. Gioncarlo has worked with clients such as Rolling Stone,Apple, The New Yorker, and Netflix to name a few. In this interview I speak to Gioncarlo about some of his early influences, how he approaches portraiture , as well as how he approaches his personal work that is often focused on issues that effect marginalized populations and the experiences of the Black and LGBTQ communities. I also speak to Gioncarlo about his work as a writer having been published in The New Yorker, New York Times, and Fader to name a few. I was really excited to get the opportunity to speak with Gioncarlo about his work as I really respect the mastery craftsmanship in his portraits but also for the vulnerability he shows not only in his photography but also his writing which takes guts. I hope you enjoy this episode and also be sure to check out the print sale Gioncarlo is currently offering on his Instagram @gioncarlovalentine Link in the below.
