Episode 8 – Persevering to Physio School with Jon Young

Welcome to The PhysioSchool Podcast – your guide to becoming a physiotherapist.

In this episode, we sit down with Jon Young – a current first year physiotherapy student at the University of Alberta.

Jon’s road to physiotherapy school was a long and arduous one. Approximately 10 years ago, Jon wholeheartedly decided to set out on his journey to become a physiotherapist. Jon worked tirelessly over the years to upgrade his high school courses in order to even be able to apply to an undergraduate degree. He eventually got into Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta where he studied Health and Physical Education. Along the way, he picked up a variety of experiences that furthered his passion to pursue a career in physiotherapy. After a decade of hard work, Jon’s dream became a reality, as he was accepted to multiple Canadian PT programs in Canada.

During our discussion with Jon, we dive into his inspiring story by talking about the following:

- How Jon became interested in physiotherapy

- A detailed breakdown of his path to physiotherapy

- Jon’s experience prior to PT school

- The classes Jon took during his undergraduate degree

- Jon’s experience so far in U of Alberta’s PT program
