Another interesting trade prospect with the Pirates. Could Vlad Guerrero Jr. be the target of Ben Cherington if the Pirates want to make a bold move? But what would the Blue Jays want? Poni has sources that believe it could be similar to the Juan Soto trade a few years ago. That was a haul in return to the Nationals. Would that be too much for the Buccos? Can the Pirates win the World Series and the Steelers win the Super Bowl? We took some calls on the Pirates. NHL writer Sean Gentille from The Athletic joined the show. Sean is out in Las Vegas for the NHL awards ceremony and draft. The guys asked Sean about the Penguins salary cap situation and how seriously they could be looking into a Tristan Jarry trade. Sean got into the deals that have been made involving goaltenders around the league. Sean said he can’t see a world where Evgeni Malkin gets moved. Sean doesn’t think the Penguins are above acquiring a player like Jacob Trouba, but he doesn’t think he’s the answer. The guys asked Sean to name a few players that could be available on the cheap this off-season. Sean thinks the Penguins biggest issue is that they don’t have many tradable assets.
