Sloppy Joe: has Biden's debate performance handed the impetus to Trump?
Manage episode 426981519 series 3583353
It's the morning after the night before (well, a few nights before) and America is still reeling from the first Presidential debate. The earliest TV debate in history ended in renewed fears about Joe Biden's competence to continue as US President – let alone as the Democrat candidate. Emily Tamkin leads us through the fallout to both the debate and the Supreme Court's verdict on Donald Trump's partial immunity from prosecution, while Tom Hamilton and Rohan Venkat marvel at the eccentricity of American politics. (Oh and then there's the small matter of the UK election this week, but we'll largely come to that next time out with Tom).
