We see that he had a tough childhood as one of nine children with a loving family but he grew up on a farm working hard day in and day out.
As a young man he survived a number of close call accidents but he was always out to do his best and work hard for his family. He attended the University of Nebraska where he would establish himself as a top notch college wrestler.
