Today's guest is Shannon Watts. Shannon is a mother-of-five and the founder of the U.S.'s largest grassroots group fighting against gun violence, 'Moms Demand Action'. With its more than six million supporters, 'Moms Demand Action' volunteers have stopped the NRA's priority legislation in statehouses more than 90 percent of the time, and helped pass hundreds of gun safety laws across the country. In fact, Shannon’s been described as "the NRA's worst nightmare".

In 2019, Shannon wrote a book, 'Fight Like a Mother', which is an inspiring story of how her rallying call-to-action grew into a powerful movement to protect children from gun violence, offering lessons for others who want to make a difference in their community - and in this episode of 'The Progressivists Podcast' we talk to Shannon about America's Gun Epidemic and what regular Americans can do to thwart this ongoing heartbreak.
