Welcome to Episode 39! We bring on CJ from Twitter for a wide-ranging discussion of all things Bill Simmons with a fan from the early ESPN Page 2 days. We first hit on CJ’s issue with the Ewing Theory, and discuss why it should actually be called the Bledsoe Theory (shoutout r/BillSimmons). Next we get a different perspective from Bill’s on the impact of Magic Johnson getting AIDS - it was probably Bill’s nonstop Celtics talk that wasn’t getting him laid. We then respond to Gladwell’s youth sports takes. CJ has 3 kids each in youth sports, and he combats several of Gladwell’s points. We agree the youth sports culture is out of control. We then discuss various Ringer pods, including the Rewatchables, and recap that disastrous Jennifer Lawrence show on Dumb & Dumber. Also, why doesn’t The Ringer have a college football pod? We finish up doing a little armchair psychology on Bill’s issue with criticism and editors, and talk a little NBA media rights deal and whether Bill will re-up at Spotify.
