This week we sat down with producer, mixer, and bassist Thomas Mitchener. We discuss the inception of Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes and the under-the-radar creation of the bands 2015 debut album ‘Blossom’. We delve into how creating the album in secret relieved a lot of the pressure and expectations that normally comes with creating a body of work and how the long lasting relationships between all of the musicians involved created a free-flowing and dynamic recording process. Michener also speaks about their ambitions to create an alternative rock sound unlike anything being released at the time by implementing unique recording methods and even recording off-click in certain tracks.
5:30 - Getting a new studio set up
13:00 - Dean and Frank were demoing themselves
33:02 - Wanting to create an environment that they’re used to
44:03 - Recording off-click
