Welcome back to the Record Report We've made it to season 3, and thank you all for staying with us!

For this episode, we'll be diving into Chance the Rapper's sophomore mixtape Acid Rap.

When Chance the Rapper dropped Acid Rap in 2013, music was in a transitional period.

It was a time when Chicago already had its lead star in Kanye West, who made mainstream headlines for My Dark Twisted Fantasy, and the growth of the GOOD Music record label. The Chi also had a budding internet music scene thanks to Chief Keef's 2012 viral hit "I Don't Like," bringing the city's Drill scene to a national audience.

However, Chance reached the blog scene with his debut project, 10 Day Tape, but really started building momentum toward his sophomore project Acid Rap. The LP was the perfect storm for the artist, featuring a diverse array of sound as well as a slew of stars including Childish Gambino, Twista, Saba, Vic Mensa, Action Bronson, and NoName.

In our Season 3 premiere, we choose our top 5 songs and talk about Acid Rap's greatness, how pivotal the album was in the music world at the peak of the blog era, and Chance's growth in the music industry.

We also talk about listening to old Kanye in the 2020s and what we've been listening to lately.
