This week's topic may be a bit controversial as we'll be talking a lot about drug use, harm reduction, and needle exchange programs.

DJ Samrock has been in the human services field for about 25 years, and 22 of those years have been specifically working in New York City as a harm reduction specialist.

In case you are unfamiliar with the term, harm reduction refers to policies, programs, and practices that aim to minimize negative health, social, and legal impacts, associated with drug use.

Harm reduction also seeks to focus on working with people, without judgement, coersion, discrimination, or requiring that they stop using drugs as a precondition of support.

Harm reduction specialists do this in order to bring about positive changes in the lives of the participants and positive changes within the communities in which we all live.

In his time working as a harm reduction specialist, DJ Samrock has worked with well over 7 thousand individuals who have sought out assistance.
