Hello and welcome back to the Retail Wrap-Up for 2024 - retail’s favourite podcast!
Today we’re thrilled to welcome Carlos Furnari, the Founder & Creative Director of Unsanctioned Running to the podcast. Unsanctioned is a sustainable and ethical running apparel brand where the garments are consciously made from recycled & upcycled fabrics.
Carlos has quite the extensive history in the running space, which you’ll hear more about today, but it’s worthwhile noting that while you may not have heard of Unsanctioned, you will definitely be familiar with the reputable brands Carlos has within aka Nike, On Running, Adidas, Converse, Strava…the list goes on.
Carlos doesn’t shy away from big topics, he utilises the brand as a forum to openly discuss subjects like Greenwashing and Guilt Washing, and his brand proves that performance, function, and style can work concurrently all whilst being sustainable and responsible.
During our conversation today Carlos covers off how Unsanctioned came to be and his journey getting to where he is now, the challenges he faced and what he learnt starting his own business. He also discusses how important it is to practice what you preach in the world of sustainability and ethical practices. Carlos also gives us an insight into the brands he uses for inspiration and how he deals with Greenwashing.
We hope you enjoying this exciting and meaningful conversation!
