Henley Festival CEO Jo Bausor gives us the lowdown on the 40th anniversary of Henley's iconic music and arts event, being held this week from Wed 6th to Sunday 10 July.

After two years of disruption due to the Covid pandemic, everyone is looking forward to getting 'back to normal'. Many festival goers will be focusing on the key attractions on the floating stage, including Sir Tom Jones, The Script, Craig David, Katherine Jenkins, Pete Tong, Katherine Jenkins and Jack Savoretti. Yet there is a wide choice of entertainment to enjoy across the site - not just music but also comedy, street theatre, art and gastronomic experiences.

Jo admits that organising the festival has not been plain sailing due to ongoing supply and staffing issues, but all is now in place for a fabulous few days on the banks of the River Thames.

She is also excited about the festival's new 'Rise' initiative. Described as 'supporting emerging talent in front and behind the spotlight', the scheme involves offering young people work experience in the arts, whether performing or exhibiting or behind the scenes. Launched for the 40th anniversary, Jo envisages Rise will be an integral part of Henley Festival every year, hopefully in future offering financial support for equipment and bursaries for further education.

The festival certainly remains true to its original purpose of supporting young emerging talent, as well as local charities.
