New projects to support the nations forest industries are being given a 100 million dollar boost.

The federal government funding will be overseen by The University of Tasmania's Australian Forest and Wood Innovations, to develop a range of initiatives such as enhanced fire resilient plantations.

Rural Reporter Alexander Nimmo spoke with Australian Forest Products Associations Chief Executive Diana Hallam about the grants.
