On this episode of The Schoch Factor Podcast, Stephen Schoch is joined by Virginia Tech's Carson DeMartini and Arkansas' Will McEntire to share what has been going into their success this season, along with how they even got into college baseball in the first place.

All too often we see people balling out at the college level, and it is easy to think to ourselves, “Well, they are at the pinnacle of their career – of course they have always been good and everyone has always known about them!” Well, in college baseball that is almost often never the case, and honestly this is where you find my favorite kind of players. The dudes who were doubted, the ones who “on paper don’t have the tools,” because in my opinion tools are overrated. Recruiting based on tools alone to me is lazy, because everyone can see the tools, anyone can do it. If you want to be an elite recruiter, you need to be the type of person who can find the intangibles, the gumption. Then you throw together a team of dudes who were told they weren’t good enough or they couldn’t make it? Those dudes are gonna perform like crazy. Carson DeMartini and Will McEntire are two dudes who have those intangibles, and I would take them on my team any day of the week.
