In Forward Progress we will host more 1 on 1 interviews with players & coaches and focus the conversations on each guest’s journey that has led them to where they are today and we hope to uncover the process & habits that have helped make them successful. I intend Forward Progress to be a much more micro look at the individuals, whereas The Sideline Hustle podcast is a more macro view of the business & lifestyle of College Football & the NFL. Today – we have Episode #001 of Forward Progress with someone who has become very special to me in a very short amount of time. Juwann Winfree will be a redshirt senior at University of Colorado this year and is their starting Wide Receiver. Juwann and I met serendipitously through Twitter. Last season he ran a great double move post route vs. USC for a TD that “put him on the map” as he says. I saw the clip and broke it down on Twitter & Instagram as part of our #TeachTapes series without knowing anything about Juwann. It was the first video of ours that “went viral” on Twitter with about 80,000 views a bunch of people started to tweet at me that Juwann was from New Jersey originally. I messaged Juwann on Twitter asking him if he would like to do a podcast with me to follow up the video and after the podcast we agreed to train together when he was home in NJ in May. Juwann is an awesome kid. I ended up training him for about 2 weeks at his old high school – Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood, NJ before he returned to Colorado and am still consulting with him every day as he sends me film clips to evaluate and keeps in the loop about his progress all offseason. What you’re about to hear is the first phone conversation Juwann and I ever had. I was on the go at the time and recorded it all from my cell phone. (Excuse the audio!)
