Fight Fans we hope you had a wonderful holiday with friends and family now it’s time to LOCK IT INTO The SnP Show on Yahoo Sports Radio Colorado Springs Rival Radio 809. We went back in time talking about UFC Fight Night 58, discussing our favorite fights and interviews of 2014 and debating the latest MMA news to hit the headlines during this holiday week.We also were joined by a WMMA fighter Jessica Pryor who is set to make her pro MMA debut January 9th at BAMMA USA. Pryor is highly decorated Tae Kwon Do athlete as well as a pankration champion. Jessica is from Sacramento, Ca and moved to San Bernardino in 2007 for school and Taekwondo and never left. JessicaPryor2
Jessica’s athletic career started at age 7 in the sport of gymnastics, which she trained and competed for 7 years. Then moved on to competing in swimming for a couple years and track and field for two years in high school. It was after she finished with track and had some free, that martial arts came in to the picture.
Jessica’s mom has always been very adamant about keeping her siblings, three of them, and Jessica herself active in sports and extracurricular activities. She was 16 when her mom decided she would enroll her and her brother in Taekwondo. She trained for a few years earlier and realized the benefits of the art and knew it was the best next step. Jessica was very reluctant for the first few months of training and wanted to quit, but mom knows best and made her stay in it. Two and a half years later, the three of them tested for and achieved our black belts together. Need less to say, her love for the sport had grown and she was able to compete in the 2008 Olympic Trials.
JessicaPryor3After that, she moved to San Bernardino for a couple years, met some amazing people who helped her be able to travel internationally to continue competing. By 2010, she was (and still am) working at UFC Gym as a one on one coach and fitness instructor. Jessica won her third national silver medal in Taekwondo that year but was feeling the want/need to move on. Jessica then began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at UFC Gym in 2011 and year and a half later, achieved her blue belt. During that time she was able to compete in and won the USAFPA trials to go to Athens, Greece in November 2012. There, she won gold in the World MMA Championships for that organization and her desire to compete in MMA grew.
