We have a deep sense of the equal value of all people no matter their age, sex, race, creed, etc. But where has this come from? And what does it mean about the difficult decisions we have to make when rationing scarce resources?
Recently Lord Jonathan Sumption sparked a controversy on the BBC1 programme, The Big Questions, by saying that not all lives are equally valuable. The controversy is testimony to his unfortunate language but also to the deeply ingrained Christian sentiments we still share in the West. But when Piers Morgan tries to call out Sumption it turns out he digs a pit then falls into it.
We speak far more about the originals of human rights and equality in our RESET series. See in particular this episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODhbp...
