At the dawn of the social media era, Belle Gibson became a pioneering wellness influencer - telling the world how she beat cancer with an alternative diet. Her bestselling cookbook and online app provided her success, respect, and a connection to the cancer-battling influencer she admired the most. But a curious journalist with a sick wife began asking questions that even those closest to Belle began to wonder. Was the online star faking her cancer and fooling the world? Kaitlyn Dever stars in the Netflix hit series Apple Cider Vinegar . Inspired by true events, the dramatized story follows Belle’s journey from self-styled wellness thought leader to disgraced con artist. It also explores themes of hope and acceptance - and how far we’ll go to maintain it. In this episode of You Can't Make This Up, host Rebecca Lavoie interviews executive producer Samantha Strauss. SPOILER ALERT! If you haven't watched Apple Cider Vinegar yet, make sure to add it to your watch-list before listening on. Listen to more from Netflix Podcasts .…

Jamie chats about being at a large client and the different shenanigans he has to deal with. He then talks about his amazing trip to Norway for NDC Oslo. Keith and Jamie then chat about maybe stopping this podcast? You'll have to listen I guess. Keith talks about his tool-sharpening solution. It's a good one if you're a nerd. Keith then jumps into a mentoring program he is working on with a mentee at work. He talks about how they paired on a PR review that the mentee. Keith and Jamie get this long, much-anticipated show going as we discuss why we had an unintentional break...damn you chaos 🐒. Keith talks about how it was to come back after the break with a monkey running loose. Jamie, who obviously just did a giant rail, starts chatting about some unexpected client changes over the past month and the work he was doing on Tatsu, leading to some extractions in Juvet. Boring! Keith and Jamie stop to go on a tangent on pull request sizes. We will probably revisit this next week. Snoozefest! Talk about barn burners. Jamie gets into timezones and what he built on Slack using Derrick Reimer's ZoneX Elixir package. You may need to pull over while listening to that. Just when you thought the fun was over, we end with a discussion about siphoning off certain customers for performance issues in a multi-tenant system. Slaying. First, we are thankful for all the soilders out there in Standupland™. Keith and Jamie get this epi started with some Turkey Talk™ and then we get down to biznizz....if you're still listening. Jamie starts off with the work he did with Tatsu. Jamie worked on the modal that allows a user to manage their questions, which got a bit complicated. Keith chimes in with how the "Shopify Thanksgiving" code freeze went, as well as how his session on Hotwire went at the internal Ruby Guild™. Keith talks normally and Jamie yells into the microphone. Jamie yells about his experience putting on a workshop during the last few weeks and then gets into the meat of his work on Tatsu. Keith talked about organizing an internal speaking series he is developing inside Shopify. This is leading him to research Hotwire and rewriting some of Shopify functionality using Hotwire and Stimulus. We then leave you with some exciting chat about...EXCEPTIONS! Keith is no longer a programmer (jk not programming as much as her used to though). More talk about writing tasks for junior devs. Basically the same conversation as last time. How Keith breaks down projects. Start with the end in mind and go backwards. Keith wishes for that we didn’t use Packwerk ( github.com/shopify/packwerk ) within the app he works on. Jamie talks about using Juvet in Tatsu and some issues with type checking. Juvet templates are becoming a sticking point and the next focus for that project. Jamie is loving his work on Tatsu (and not so much his client work). Cedar Point is dope during “Halloweekends”, but the fast pass arms race is real.…

The K + J sandwich is back (gross). Keith starts this week off by discussing his panel he hosted at the internal Shopify conference and how he almost pooped his pants. Keith talks about some of the other internal talks, including the future of Rails! Jamie and Keith then discuss why Shopify invests so much energy and resources in Ruby and Rails. It's interesting. What else are you going to do? Watch dance videos on TikTok? Oh. And Jamie launches something? (Psst...https://next.tatsu.io). Jamie and Keith end it with a discussion about ElixirConf. Basements, bicycles, and bags. A little divergence into some vacation and drugs before work stuff. Jamie talked about some work he has done on Tatsu over the last few weeks.
