This is part one of a two-part series on reaching people for Christ with Dr. Matt Queen. Dr. Queen is a Professor of Evangelism at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, (mqueen@swbts.edu).
Dr. Queen's 4 things on how a pastor can lead the church to be evangelistic:
1. Repent as a congregation. Lead your people to repent and to see that we are supposed to be sharing the gospel. And we’re not.
2. The Pastor must recognize his role as being a primary mobilizer. The pastor doesn’t have to be the main soul winner. but the pastor cannot be disconnected from the evangelistic the drive of the church.
3. Celebrate evangelism results. Churches celebrate many things. We need to celebrate actually sharing the gospel. Of course results like professions of faith and baptisms. What is priority will be celebrated.
4. Celebrate the sowing of the the gospel itself apart from results. Sharing the gospel is the win. Results are God‘s business.
