Among some of our best tellers were physicians, whose commitment to healing were vicariously felt by us from the stories they told. Poignant, uplifting, often humorous tales of recovery---and sometimes loss. Medicine can indeed be magic to those suffering and for many---it can be a miracle. But today we explore stories which unleash a darker side in the medical profession but one equally important---stories shared by my guest Jack Houston, or Nurse Jack, as he is affectionately known and is also the title of his book Nurse Jack—a collection of stories from which today’s selections are drawn.
