This is part one of a three part interview with now retired Detective Inspector Gary Winter - the man responsible for getting the case to court. He reveals the huge effort it took to get the Crown and Procurator Fiscal Service to agree to move the case forward. In the second and third parts of his interview you will hear so much more about what was not said in court, evidence that couldn't be heard due to witnesses dying, more about Kit's actions after the murder and his frustration that it took 45 years to get to court.
