In today's episode I chat with CTO | Technical & Creative Leader Kish Hirani. Kish talks about how he's love for Mathematics and how that led to his start in his career within the games industry. We delve into his time while he worked at Sony Playstation, and what that experience has taught him. Kish talks about his advocacy for underrepresented ethnicities, hence the creation of BiG. He also stresses the importance of nurturing talent and sharing knowledge. We talk about issues surrounding mental health, generative AI within the industry. Kish also shares what his favourite computer games are, his hobbies and of course, the quote that continually inspires him.
Kish Hirani brings with him 25 years experience in the games industry. He started as a software engineer, swiftly attaining technical director or equivalent roles at development studios and publishing houses like Acclaim, THQ, BBC Multimedia to name a few. Thereafter he moved to platform holders starting with Microsoft then settling at Sony PlayStation for 8 years as their Head of Developer Services, developing and managing resources for all developers facing technical activities. Currently, he is the CTO at Kiss Publishing as well as sits on multiple advisory boards. He is the founding-Chair of the advocacy group BiG, BAME in Games (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic), promoting diversity in the industry.

He has been recently listed as the 'Top 100 IT/Tech leaders in the UK, 2023' by Computing magazine; He was listed as one of 'The Top 100 most influential BAME leaders in UK Tech' 2019 in the Financial Times; awarded the ‘Diversity Star Award’ at the Develop:Star Awards 2019 and listed as ‘The Top 100 Asian Stars in UK Tech’ by Diversity UK in 2018.
