Since the early 1990s operatic soprano Cheryl Barker has been a regular performer with all of the major opera companies in Australia, as well as English National Opera. Her performances in roles such as Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, and Mimi in La Boheme are remembered as legendary by Australian audiences. Cheryl Barker studied with Dame Joan Hammond at the Victorian College of the Arts and since then she and her husband, baritone Peter Coleman-Wright, have each managed highly successful international opera careers. Doug Beecroft talks to Cheryl about her life and work.
