When I first started looking into how to learn to meditate, I kept running into the same things. Dreadlocks, tapestries, candles, you know, the classic "meditation type things". I remember asking myself, why isn't there some regular, everyday type dude to teach me how to do it. It's not that I don't like the hippies and overly spiritual types, it's just that I didn't feel like myself surrounded by incense, sage, and candles. (I actually love that stuff now haha) But from the jump, I just wanted a simple, easy way to learn to meditate. It didn't need to be over complicated or have some sort of style, I just wanted to feel better while experiencing my life. So I learned on my own, tried new things, guided meditations, went to a couple classes (hosted by a psychic lol) and I even set up a meditation area in my closet that now sits dark and sadly alone. I slowly realized none of that is at all necessary. Most days, I sit on the floor of my living room or on my recliner to meditate. I don't have any certain practice or mantra, I just breathe and let me body tell me what it needs me to consider. There's no accessories or rituals, because there doesn't need to be. This week, I'm doing a deep dive in the basics of meditation in the ThoughtSound Meditation Club free Facebook Group.
