Episode 6: ADULTING: Navigating life as a millennial when things don't go as planned
Manage episode 341209543 series 3117434
What happens when you have a full-ride to a HBCU and have a tough time and end up returning home?
When you come home, and you have never had a job before, what's next?
How do you overcome rough periods in life as a 20 something?
Hear Ary talk about how she took a job she hated, knowing that she wanted something else.
So, she moved to another job and worked her way into another position and eventually found
a job she really wanted and could relate to.
As a result, she purchased her first car and first apartment and continues to find her way.
She talks about how it is difficult for her generation (Millennials) to follow the paths we (the generation before hers) followed
and that kicked off a great conversation!
Why? Because we believe each generation has changed with the times and the technology but the SYSTEMS we live in and exist within have NOT changed at all!
For example, the days of a young person having a job for 30 years to pay a 30 year mortgage are long gone but, MOST retirement strategies
and mortgage terms are STILL designed around a 30 year timeframe!
It's nice to take time to listen to our millennials to understand how they see life and how they navigate
their paths even when they have to take a detour!
Listen if you are the parent of a millennial, listen if YOU are a millennial, listen if you are any age and you
thought you would go one way in life but ended up going to another!
Listen to this young lady talk about the need to make a difference in the community and in the world!
We are talking about ADULTING on the last official episode of season 1 of the Train, Teach the World Podcast!
