This week Ben and Andrew are channeling their inner Vulcans and to a lesser extent androids. Andrew kicks the show off with a sensory adventure... "French Fries and Ketchup" flavored Pringles! After the (kids) definition of the word logic, they move on to their very different first thoughts. For Andrew it’s Star Trek, and for Ben it’s a joke Norm Macdonald told on Late Night with Conan O’Brien in 1996. Andrew lists a few of his favorite logical fallacies before Ben talks a little bit about boolean (not bullion) logic. Most games include some sort of logic, but the hosts brainstorm a bit and come up with some examples of their favorite types. Finally, Ben has a few movie recommendations for Andrew, and Andrew has some parting advice about cults. Also… do not taunt Happy Fun Ball!

00:00:20 - Andrew played something literally ridiculous, and the king of shark movies, Jaws
00:03:20 - Waffles, Ben talks about playing Dave the Diver, and the understatement of the year
00:06:42 - ANDREW’S SENSORY ADVENTURE… ASMR… not yet sponsored by #Pringles
00:12:27 - The verdict… how it stacks up (pun intended) to other flavors, and the catsup saver
00:16:15 - Spock’s Wikipedia, “kids definition,” adult etymology, the 12th century, and words
00:19:36 - Human nature, foreshadowing fallacies, Paramount Star Trek shows, and Spock
00:22:27 - Pon farr, “to mate or to kill,” the Eugenics Wars, and a glittering generalization
00:27:27 - Data, the Star Trek tie-in that should have been, and medium for a long long time.
00:30:02 - A generalization loophole, and Norm Macdonald’s “Professor of Logic” joke
00:34:21 - Denying the antecedent, joke construction, and the illusion of logic in language
00:37:19 - Political discourse, slippery slopes, guns, nudity, and using logical fallacies
00:40:17 - The ad hominem fallacy, insults, the bandwagon appeal, and no true Scotsmen
00:43:06 - The ones that sound the funniest, and Ben misses Andrew’s obvious sarcasm
00:45:00 - Lessons Andrew learned about logical fallacies from teaching persuasive essays
00:47:29 - Goalpost moving, picking cherries, gamblers, booleans, and the Autism Quotient
00:52:53 - Moving on to video games… chess, turn based strategy, puzzle, and story games
00:55:16 - The card game Flux, the mysterious kinetic sand, and do not taunt Happy Fun Ball
00:58:55 - Tower defense, Animal Well, the Barbie movie, and Andrew’s long standing feud
01:02:22 - Billy’s inspiration for getting in to game design and “Indie Game: the Movie”
01:06:00 - Artistic expressions using logic, itchy shirt tags, and “Logical Fallacy Theatre!”
01:08:49 - Analysis paralysis, don’t join a cult, Ben talks briefly about “Cult of the Lamb”
01:10:24 - Closing the show with a crisp-centric soundbite from Ben and a little goofiness
