"Set in Los Angeles in the late 1990s, struggling writer James Bishop grapples with the emotional shrapnel of a recent breakup with his longtime girlfriend, Emily. We loved this 2023 random find. The movie had zero promotion in the UK and that is criminal. I feel it would do really well on Netflix as a one off, like that Jamie Foxx vampire thing. It is crisply filmed, well written, superbly acted and criminally overlooked.
Starring Mike Castle and Oliver Cooper, this rom zom com should really be a rom com with zoms, as the zombies are there, but it is the caustic romantic comedy you follow as Castle's James tries to get over a break up, and his friend Oliver comes to look after him as the apocalypse unfolds.
Hardcore zombie fans will poo poo it, and TBH they are a missing out as the banter and the movie nods would win them over. Rom Com fans will be deterred by the zombie elements, but they are really soft peddled.
In short both Michael and I recommend this movie. It is on Amazon in the UK. And definitely worth a watch.
