I should also mention that it can be any type of local business, and it doesn’t need to be in any area, wherever you are, just mention the businesses you love that you would want to spend £50 in if you won.
Losing local businesses!
Today I wanted to talk about local businesses, just in Scotland I was looking at some stat on the Scottish government website as I was doing a bit of research.
I got side tracked and looked deeper into the stats, it really annoys me the difficulty small business owners have running a business but the stats just annoy me even more.
You would be surprised at the amount of employment local business provides in the country, so when we lose almost 20,000 local businesses in a year, which equate to, I estimate at least 30,000 jobs, then that’s an eye opener, if this was the BBC shutting done or Greggs and there were going to be 20,000 to 30,000 people out of work in the next year, I am sure there would be a public outcry.
Yet big business contributes to less than half of the employment in the UK, so should we not be rallying behind out local businesses, clearly they give more back to the economy, given they don’t enjoy all the great tax breaks and local deals that big companies also enjoy.
On Thursday I will follow up on this topic to chat about how you can market your local business and how What can help you. So check out our podcast on Thursday for more details.
