The Feminine Qualities and Their Role in the Four Quadrants of Reality Heidi Hornlein and Raquel Torrent give a short introduction into that part of Integral Theory which has been outlined by the well know Philosopher Ken Wilber, which maps out the 4 quadrants of reality, the 4 main perspectives through which reality is perceived by human beings. The “upper left quadrant” is the way in which the individual perceives themselves, there are MY thoughts and feelings, MY interiority. (“The interior of the individual) The “lower left quadrant” is the way, we perceive ourselves in community. It is the WE, the group with certain ideas and habits, it is the culture in which the individual is embedded. (“the interior of the collective”) The “lower right quadrant” is the way, people organize themselves, the structures and institutions they create to be able to move on in life. (“The exterior of the collective”) The upper right quadrant is the way in which one looks on what is happening in an observing and categorizing way. One tries to understand what is going on by examining the facts and connecting the dots. (“The exterior of the individual”) In this episode Heidi and Raquel begin the “Journey through the 4 Quadrants” by examining more in depth the “upper left”, the ME, what I feel and think. They share their own journey, the experience of their development. They stress the real importance of the Upper Left quadrants in their lives, also in regard to spirituality. Here comes in the FEMININE versus the MASCULINE aspect: Feelings and Emotions often is contributed to the Feminine and Thinking for instance to the Masculine.
