On this episode of the Yay (recorded yesterday), Norman and I welcome Cary Ann Rosko (http://caryannrosko.com/Site/Home.html), actress and singer and professional therapist. Cary has worked extensively with the Lamplighters Music Theatre and I shared the stage with her at the Playwright's Center of San Francisco showcase. We talk about: the politicization of crimes against women (the horrible deaths of Mollie Tibbetts and Nia Wilson); the convictions of Paul Manafort and the guilty plea of Michael Cohen; and the impending (at the time) death of Senator John McCain. Cary shares with her growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, her time in Boston, studying music, and her transition to the Bay Area and how she uses her skills from therapy to help her as an actress. SHOUTOUTS: The Complete Works of Shakespeare, Abridged (Actors Ensemble of Berkeley) Aug 18 – Sept 3 http://www.aeofberkeley.org/productions/upcoming-shows/161-john-hinkel-park-amphitheater/273-the-complete-works-of-william-shakespeare-abridged Crystal Brown (Episode 62) is directing this – I misspoke, Radika Rao is not involved in this.. Sunday In The Park with George (SF Playhouse) August 26 – Sept 8 https://www.sfplayhouse.org/sfph/ Lamplighters Fundraiser Gala (Lamplighters Music Theatre) October 14 “Extra, Extra, Sing All About It” – a parody of movie The Post http://lamplighters.org One Man, Two Guvnors (Altarena Playhouse) August 10-Sept 9 (http://www.altarena.org/productions/2018-season/one-man-two-guvnors) Uncle Vanya (Cutting Ball Theater) Sept 21-Oct 21 (http://cuttingball.com/productions/uncle-vanya/) Avenue Q (Coastal Rep Theatre) July 27 – August 26 http://coastalrep.com/shows-and-tickets-2017-2018/avenue-q/ Also (I wish I had thought about talking about this on the podcast) I recently donated to Unidos Por Puerto Rico. As many of you know, the crisis in Puerto Rico is still very dire and our current president doesn't seem to care. But I care, and I hope you do too. I donated $50 to this cause and I hope you consider donating too. Here's the link: https://www.guidestar.org/profile/66-0886334
