Episode 003: with Special Guest Dr. Davina Banner | Theory After Hours | The Theory Hardware Podcast
Dr. Davina Banner is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Northern British Columbia and a rural health researcher with an interest in cardiovascular care. She has been a registered nurse since 1999 and prior to moving to Canada, Davina worked as a nurse in the cardiothoracic intensive care field and as a Cardiac Surgery Research Specialist in the UK.
Dr. Banner received her doctorate in 2007 from the University of the West of England in Bristol, UK. Her thesis explored women’s experiences of coronary artery bypass graft surgery. She undertook two postdoctoral research fellowships, one at the University of Northern British Columbia exploring rural health service delivery and a second with the FUTURE Program for Cardiovascular Nurse Scientists exploring cardiovascular disease and rural health.
Dr. Banner’s research program is focused on rural health service delivery and includes studies on cardiovascular care, chronic disease, patient and provider experiences and telehealth. She has published and presented nationally and internationally and undertakes a broad range of peer review activities for clinical and cardiac journals, as well as for a number of Canadian granting agencies. Furthermore, she serves as the research chair for the Canadian Council for Cardiovascular Nurses of BC and Yukon. At home, Davina is a mom to three beautiful girls and an avid fitness enthusiast.
