Things Survivors Wish You Knew is a Dressember podcast featuring conversations with survivors of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. We’ll talk about what survivors wish the rest of us knew about the injustices of trafficking and exploitation and about the larger anti-trafficking sector. There’s historically been a way that we (who are not survivors) have tended to talk about survivors and their experiences and what we believe they need– whether it’s seeing them only as victims, asking them to share their traumatic stories over and over, or not offering them opportunities to lead– and our approach needs to change. So that’s why we’re here: to pass the mic to survivors to share what they wish people knew about trafficking and exploitation. It’s going to be emotional and inspiring and will challenge you to rethink the way you think and talk about this issue. It might even be a little messy, and that’s because honestly, there’s never been a podcast like this. Join us as we celebrate the courage and diverse insights of survivors.
