As part of the Luminaries Class of 2023, Alger CEO and Chief Investment Officer Dan Chung is being recognized in the category of Community Impact. This podcast was recorded before the ceremony on November 28 where we announced that Dan was the winner of the Community Impact award in the asset manager group.

Through his leadership role, Chung oversees the day-to-day operations of the boutique investment manager firm and also guides its charitable and philanthropic work, which mainly focuses on the New York City area. Over the past year, Alger and Chung have worked closely with Brooklyn Hospital to help the facility and its nursing staff as they continue to address issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this podcast, Chung discusses his and Alger's other charitable work as well as what financial advisors can do to connect to their communities. In the interview, Chung talks about:

  • How Alger focused its philanthropy efforts on New York City and those families affected by the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

  • What advisors can do to help connect their firms to the communities they serve.

  • Why the U.S. and global economy is likely to change again next year and how advisors can respond to better serve their clients.
