On this episode of This Day In History, Tony and Armand are here to tell us about Martin Luther’s 95 Theses. On this day in the year 1517, Martin Luther speaks out against the Catholic Church and sparks the Protestant Reformation. Luther’s accusations against the Catholic Church included selling “indulgences” that would wash away your sins and grant you entry into the pearly gates of heaven. This day in history forever would forever change the way religion is taught throughout the world.

Also on this day, Nevada becomes the 36th U.S. States in 1864 and in 2011, the global population reaches seven billion. This day is now known as the Day of Seven Billion.
