My guest on today’s episode is Brian Muller: a dad, musician and fellow resident of the Twin Cities. Professionally, he has been in the financial services industry for over 25 years, and recently started his own firm and podcast. He grew up near my husband’s family, so Brian and I have been mutual friends for years!

I watched via social media as he and his late wife, Amie, went through her public battle with pancreatic cancer in 2016 – having been exposed to toxic burn pits while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, which drew the attention of news outlets – before she passed away as a young mother. This left Brian to navigate his grief and this world of solo parenting his young kids, and try to figure out how to move forward both personally and professionally.

Today’s episode is incredibly powerful, and my hope is that it provides that reminder of how delicate life is. It is so important to plan and have tough conversations. And also, there are many ways to find meaning and still live life after tremendous loss.
