Rockford Mayoral Candidate Rudy Valdez came to visit the chilly confines of the This Week in Rockford studio. We talked about Rudy's background and his business and community leadership experience, plus the frequent campaign topics of crime and economic development.

The guys then discussed the death of Rock River Times' Frank Schier, Gary Hill's newly published music book, Jim Ryan's move to Rock Valley College, and Jim's observations on the Todd Smith murder trial. As usual, Jim also gave a Rockford IceHogs update. And everyone took note of Jeff's excellent haircut, provided by Downtown Barbers Shave Club (our show sponsor), but noted that even a great haircut can't make Jeff as good looking as Jim "Robert DeNiro" Hagarty.

Producer Jake "The Snake" Morgan was unable to provide a meaningful RoboVikings update, but we are glad that he's made it through a couple of weeks of driving without incident. Then Caleb had to go (we think he had a date, even though he denies it), so we wrapped it up.

Thanks to our sponsor, Downtown Barbers Shave Club. They bring back the Art of the Shave & Cut.

Recorded January 18, 2017. Show notes at: http://thisweekinrockford.com
