I had such a great conversation with Dr. Hazel Woords. Dr. Woods is the Associate Program Director and Professor of Practice at Tulane SoPA. (School of Professional Advancement).

Hazel began her educational path as a first-grade classroom teacher in New Jersey. During the past 25 years in New Orleans, she has strengthened her knowledge about culture, community, and collaboration through work in a variety of educational settings with young children, adult learners, and college students. Her experiences with non-profits, K-12 systems, and universities provide Dr. Woods with a broad, inclusive perspective on teaching and learning. Her interests include early literacy, reading development, educational resilience, and meaningful student-teacher interactions. Hazel holds both a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and a Master's Degree in Developmental Reading from the College of New Jersey. She also holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a minor in Urban Studies from the University of New Orleans.
