Growing in Discernment Part 2: How to Recognize Truth and Distortion

Discernment is the process of making a careful decision in our thinking about the truth. The ability of discerning is also the ability to think biblically.

One of the mentions of this ability is in Thesalonias 5:21-22, which says "but test them all; hold on to what is good, 22 reject every kind of evil." It is also in Philippians 1:9-10, "And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ."

Discernment is considered a virtue and is a reflection of a toll of wisdom. Discerning is walking in wisdom, walking in intuition.

As it applies to intuition, discernment is the ability to recognize the difference between the truth of our intuitive intelligence and the distortion of our emotions and past conditionings.
