The Power of Forgiveness

The topic of forgiveness is relevant in a sense that it is not a topic like trending. It’s like always relevant because we all experienced being wronged by someone. It’s timeless. Almost everyone, if not everyone has experienced some pain, betrayal, or hurt by someone, especially that someone’s probably close to you. They could be your co-worker, friend, or a family member.

We want to bring this out because hanging on to those negative feelings can also do great harm to ourselves.

According to a Professor from Harvard, Dr. Tyler VanderWeele, "Forgiving a person who has wronged you is never easy, but dwelling on those events and reliving them over and over can fill your mind with negative thoughts and suppressed anger…Yet, when you learn to forgive, you are no longer trapped by the past actions of others and can finally feel free."

It’s okay to be angry when someone wronged you, but holding on to that state leads to bitterness and resentment and our bodies start to get affected.

Forgiveness is learning to let go, especially of things that we don’t have control over…
