The Vancouver Pride Parade is one of the city’s most celebrated events. It generates over $20-million dollars for the local economy. Pride Week events attract hundreds of thousands of attendees. But where the Pride Parade is now is very different than when it began. Men and women in the 80s risked their jobs, their personal relationships, and their safety to march for human rights. CKNW’s Niki Reitmayer takes a brief look at the history (and herstory) of the Vancouver Pride Parade.
