Dramatisation of the 1953 stage play, filmed in 1955 with David Niven in the lead; titled "Court Martial" in the USA. War hero Major Charles 'Copper' Carrington is arrested for embezzling £125 from his unit's safe, for leaving the base and entertaining Captain Alison Graham in his room. Appearing in his own defence, Carrington claims that he took the money openly because of all the back pay owed him and because his wife Valerie was pressuring him for money. She has become ill as a result of the financial worries and has even threatened suicide.
