Welcome to episode 13 of Today's Candor. I'm your host, Barika. Thank you as always for taking the time to tune in.

In this episode, I'm discussing diving deeper and figuring out why you are wired the way you are, why you react to certain situations the way you do, why you react to certain people the way you do, and hopefully provide some tips that helped me figure out why I'm wired the way that I am. So let's go ahead and dive right on in.

I want you all to start off by just thinking and putting on your thinking caps, thinking about if you have already started this journey, this process of figuring out why you are the way you are. If you haven't started, have you even wondered why you are wired the way you are?

Once you start to wonder and have that curiosity, take a step further. Be okay with taking that leap and saying, I want to actually figure it out. I want to do some self-evaluation. I want to figure out who I am, why I'm wired this way, especially if there are things that you are currently working on. And of course, we want to continuously grow. We want to continuously improve.

When I started really sitting down and saying, who am I? Who is Barika? Why do I react a certain way? In my early 20s, I felt like I would take a lot of stuff personal. But I didn't take the time then to really break down why I took those things personal when I knew they weren't directed at me. So I had to figure out how do I stop doing that? How do I have some discernment?

Once I did, it gave me a sense of freedom. It was definitely liberating because I no longer had to be upset when somebody had a nasty attitude. I no longer had to be upset or have my mood or my entire day changed because somebody was dealing with their own battles.

So when you start figuring out who you are and why you are wired the way you are, it helps you to navigate life, the good and the bad, the in-between. The way that you might have reacted to something when you were younger, you might not now. Or once you figure out, hey, who am I? Just like we do Ancestry.com and we want to trace back our roots, you have to think about it in that way.

Being able to dive deeper and say, who am I? It should be a positive experience. Yes, there are going to be some rough times in there, depending on where, who you come from. But it should be something that is shedding light on some things that you were unaware of and then being able to turn those things into a positive.

I'll go ahead and end there. As always, please continue to follow, like and share. I appreciate everyone's support and feel good about going on this journey. I always say jot it down, write it down, because once you can pinpoint the feelings and the why, then you can begin connecting the dots and just better understanding who you are. So continue to follow, like and share on Instagram. The podcast is, of course, on all major platforms, Apple Podcasts, Pandora, Spotify, Podbean, Amazon, you name it.

In the meantime, stay safe and stay candid.
