“I didn’t sit back and hope something would happen…even if nothing comes of it I’m going to put in the legwork myself and not rely on hoping that external forces make it happen.“ – Jake Green

When Jake Green was 9 years old, his dad took him to see the NHL All Star Game in San Jose. It was there he saw voiceover icon Rob Paulsen compete in the celebrity skills competition and he realized for the first time, there was an actual human who was behind his favorite cartoon character Yakko Warner from Animaniacs. He knew right then and there he wanted to act. Now, Jake is an award-winning actor who has been in shows such as the Netflix hit Dahmer, 9-1-1, Greys Anatomy, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Catch. He has also followed in Rob’s footsteps and has voiced numerous different characters in projects such as Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, Minions Rise of Gru, Animaniacs, and The Boss Baby: Back in Business. In addition to animation, he has voiced video games, national campaigns for major brands, and primetime network promos.

In this episode, Jake talks about his journey. From growing up playing Junior hockey in Canada, to pursuing acting and learning to use that athlete mentality to help him with his career. He also talks about lessons he’s learned, the importance of taking charge of your career, and offers advice for those looking to get into acting.
